See you in Toronto this weekend! (+ the comic that started pop art)
Hi friends!
I'll be at the Sport Card Expo in Toronto from November 5 to November 8! Come find me at booth #4800 at the International Centre in Mississauga. I'll have my sports pieces with me: logos, rookie cards and more. If you're in Toronto, come say hi! 🏒

Closer to home: my new pop art landscapes and my 38" × 38" Superman are part of "Couleurs en folie" at Le Balcon d'Art in Saint-Lambert, and the show has been extended until November 7! If you haven't seen them yet, there's still time 🎨

A dare that changed art history. In 1961, Roy Lichtenstein's son reportedly pointed at a comic book and said, "I bet you can't paint as good as that." Lichtenstein took the dare and painted Look Mickey: Donald Duck reeling in his own coattail while Mickey laughs. It was his first painting with the comic-book dots and speech balloons that made him famous, and it now hangs at the National Gallery of Art in Washington.

I think about that story a lot, because Mickey and Donald have been part of my own work for years 😄
See you soon,
Luba
