McDavid Rookie

48" x 72" · Acrylic on canvas

This is not my average painting. Most of my paintings are $1000 to $3000 usd. $20 000 is for the very big and long paintings. When I start painting a rookie card, they're always 48'' x 72'' and I paint it everyday. I don't stop until it's completed. But when I make smaller paintings, I often paint 3 to 5 at a time. Right now, I am painting: A NY Rangers logo (custom order), a huge Miamis Dolphins logo (custom order), a pretty puppy in a Ferrari (custom order) and a Veronica from Archie, not an order :) Thank you so much for your amazing support. It really means a lot to me. For the love of Pop Art.

Exploded Optic Reds

24" x 24" · Acrylic on canvas

I keep trying hard to get better everyday. I am not kidding, I actually have a notebook that I write what I am working on to try to get better. It started with trying to have no brush strokes on the canvas. To make it look like it was printed. Then I tried to create the «Exploded Optic» style to make my art unique. Then I worked for years on my line work, to make the lines even and fluid. Then I started working on shading effects. Then added the light effect. And finally on this painting I added a second shadow effect. So, it might not look like much, but this painting represents 5 years of constant practice and hard work to better myself. I think about painting all the time. And I love it. Thank you so much for being here.

Exploded Optic Sweet Dough

30" x 30" · Acrylic on canvas

I tried painting this piece 3 years ago. It was really complicated for me. I started over recently and it went really well. I don't know if you're like me but evaluating my own progress is difficult. This painting allowed me to see that I have made progress. I do paint and draw every day… and I keep repeating to myself: ''good things will happen, if I keep my focus''. I can assure you that I'm really focused. I know one painting will not define me but thousands of paintings will. Well, the first half thousand is behind me now. I never would have imagined that I would have sold over 500 paintings in my life, even less in the first 5 years. Thank you to all of you amazing art collectors! If you own one of my paintings, you own 1/500 of my art. I feel grateful and blessed for you all!

Geoff Wilson (@itsgeoffwilson), founder of the very popular @sportscardinvestor, has been a great supporter of my art since year one. A lot of people ask me how I stay so motivated and keep wanting to learn and build my craft, my art and my brand. It's easy: I personally listen to every video of Geoff and his team, while I paint every day. I also listen to @garyvee, @piette.michel and @tonyrobbins. Giving you all my secrets. Geoff is one of the most influential persons in the sports card hobby… but watch out, he's branching out. When I met Geoff in Atlanta last year, he was telling me at halftime at the Hawks game: 'Jay we like what you do and this is just the beginning.' I wrote those words on a piece of paper and put it right in front of me in my studio. Thank you to all of you for being part of my art journey.
